We are looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Eetcafé de Boerderij on Ameland. Whether you are looking for a position for a few months or a long-term stay, both options are available.
What Will You Do?
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will help our chefs keep the kitchen running smoothly. Your main duties include:
- Helping with basic food preparation
- Washing dishes and kitchen equipment
- Keeping the kitchen and work areas clean and organised
- Preparing ingredients and supplies for service
- Assisting chefs during busy lunch and dinner services
- Unpacking and storing deliveries
- Taking care of general kitchen cleaning
- Supporting your team wherever needed
No professional chef experience required—we are looking for someone motivated, reliable, and ready to work as part of a team!
About Us
Eetcafé de Boerderij is a modern and lively restaurant located in an authentic old farmhouse in the village of Ballum on Ameland, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands. We serve lunch, dinner, and drinks to both tourists and local guests.
Our team works hard to deliver a great guest experience while maintaining a friendly, positive atmosphere behind the scenes.
Who Are We Looking For?
Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is a plus, but not required. We are looking for candidates who:
- Are enthusiastic and ready for a new experience in the Netherlands
- Are willing to live and work on Ameland
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Are comfortable with physical work during busy shifts
- Stay positive and organized under pressure
- Understand hygiene standards and work neatly
- Are flexible, reliable, and hardworking
- Can communicate in English
- Are legally authorized to work in the EU / Netherlands

Coming from another country? We’ve got you covered. We provide staff accommodation on Ameland shared with colleagues, located within walking distance of the restaurant. You will also get daily staff meals and a bicycle to use around the island.
Contract Details
We welcome both short-term seasonal applicants and long-term team members. Start dates, contract duration, and hours can be discussed during the interview process. All contracts adhere to official Dutch labor regulations.
