Chez Toi is an independent catering company based in Morzine, France. Most of our clients in the winter have booked a self-catered chalet or apartment, or are companies that have had staff that leaves unexpectedly or get injured.
Our service offers the clients an in-house chef who prepares breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner for the week of their stay in the resort. The bookings take place in a different chalet each week, so an ability to adapt quickly to new kitchens is necessary.
We have three different menus, a ‘Family Classics’ menu, which includes continental breakfast and 5 two-course evening meals that the whole family has together. The ‘Traditional’ menu includes 7 cooked and continental breakfasts, 6-afternoon teas and 5 three-course evening meals for adults with a separate two-course children’s meal. The ‘Indulgent’ menu is similar to the traditional but has 5 four-course Luxury meals for the adults, with bubbles and canapés on the first and last nights. The menus are set but we can alter them for dietary requirements as long as we know in advance.
About the position
This chalet chef job is ideal for a candidate who has previous chalet experience, as well as chef experience. Professional experience isn´t necessary, we would also like to hear from you if you are a good hobby chef who loves cooking for groups of people and can work hard. We do expect the chefs to be fairly independent and will be interacting with the clients, but there is plenty of help and support available.
Generally, the chefs will work from around 7-10 am and 5-9 pm, 5 days a week, but this will depend on mealtimes and can change a little bit depending on bookings.
The chefs cook and prepare breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner, depending on the package, and are also responsible for laying the table, serving and clearing up after the meal as well. There is plenty of client contact as the chef is often in an open-plan kitchen.
The job is on a French contract and having a vehicle is preferred. The ideal candidate will be Independent, professional and friendly. There is plenty of ski time as no food shopping is required so you can make the most of the slopes. The candidate receives 2 full days off per week, good tips and meals whilst working.
Ideally, we are looking for an EU passport holder, but we will consider applying for work permits for a UK national if they are a great candidate. Also, we are open to anyone who can apply for a French working holiday visa.
