UK Youth Mobility Scheme Information

If you are a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA) you do not need permission to work in the United Kingdom.

The EEA includes these countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Bulgarian and Romanian citizens can be resident in the UK for up to 3 months without a visa but will need to obtain a work permit if they wish to take employment.

The youth mobility scheme is for young people from Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand.

You can also apply if you are a British overseas citizen, British overseas territories citizen or a British national (overseas)

To be eligable you must:

Valid national passport from the above country

18 years old or over when your visa lets you come to the United Kingdom (becomes valid) and under  31 years old when you apply;

Have £1,600 in available maintenance (funds) when you apply

You cannot apply for the youth mobility scheme if you are already in the United Kingdom

If you are given permission to stay under the youth mobility scheme, you will be able to live and work in the United Kingdom for a maximum time of 24 months.

You can leave and come back to the United Kingdom at any time during the length of your stay under the youth mobility scheme.
