About us
Chilly Powder was set up in 1994 by Paul and Francesca Eyre and since then the company has grown considerably. Paul and Francesca built Hotel Au Coin du Feu, which is a 53-bed hotel at the foot of the slopes and has since added other smaller chalets sleeping up to 15. Chilly Powder caters to families and is particularly proud of our in-house creche and childcare facilities and the quality of the food and wine served.
We like to create a friendly and fun atmosphere which both staff and guests benefit from and results in many of them returning each season. We like to give our team members the chance to develop themselves and get the most out of their season, working for a company where you are a real person (not just a number). For the 21/22 Ski Season, we have the following roles available: Sous Chef, Nanny, Housekeeper and Bartender. Due to French employment rules, we can only accept applicants who have the right to work in France which means EU passport holders or non-EU passport holders that have a French working visa. British passport holders will need to have already obtained or applied for a Titre de Séjour.
Sous Chef
The candidate needs to be a talented and creative chef to work in our kitchen this winter. You’ll need a passion for excellent ingredients yet still be relaxed and able to complement the rest of our chalet team. We have a team of chefs working together in the Chalet/Hotel and catering for guests in chalets. The kitchen team is responsible for all food prepared in the hotel, including breakfast, afternoon tea, children’s food, staff food and a 5-course dinner each evening.
Our Sous Chef works alongside our talented and experienced Head Chef preparing all our menus in the morning in the main chalet Au Coin du Feu to ensure food of the highest, consistent quality is prepared and served to our guests. The role demands a personable, well-presented, clean and highly organized, experienced Chef. Our Sous chefs and Commis chefs will then do dinner for our guests in their own private chalets and this will include laying up the tables, hosting, washing up and interacting with our guests. This role includes lots of customer interaction so it is important that candidates have some experience in a customer-facing role, along with a passion to cook fresh ingredients. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, the role is 6 days a week.

Nanny
Chilly Powder prides itself on its childcare facilities and we are looking for nannies with bags of energy and enthusiasm to make sure the children staying with us have as good a time as their parents. We always have a team of full-time, fully qualified nannies (including a Head Nanny) and our guests regularly leave us with fantastic praise for the team.
Working in our in-house kids club, weeks can vary so you need to be confident and enjoy working with all ages of children from 3 months to 8 years. You must be caring, responsible, active and a team player. In return for your hard work, you will be offered a very competitive wage, accommodation, 1 meal per day and 2 days off a week. We do ask that you are flexible however and that you are willing to take on alternative duties such as cleaning, chalet hosting or bar work if required.
Requirements
- Childcare qualifications or experience in daycare and/or private homes, a teacher or as a pediatric nurse
- A valid First Aid certificate
- CRB clearance
Housekeeper
You are the friendly face working as a team to service our guest bedrooms daily. For this role, we will only consider candidates who have had previous experience either in a hotel, restaurant or chalet. Our guests are expecting impeccable standards of cleanliness and service and we must never disappoint.
This is a fast-paced job so we expect our team to work fast and efficiently when on duty.
Our Housekeepers do daily room servicing and full bedroom cleans and chalet changeover days in an efficient and enthusiastic way. Previous cleaning experience is important. This is a very flexible role with the main responsibility being for the management of the standards of cleanliness across all Chilly Powder properties. You will aim to maximize customer satisfaction by providing neat and clean rooms in accordance with the Chilly Powder standards and to provide efficient, prompt, courteous, trouble-free and proactive service to guests. This role requires a high degree of organization.

Bartender
We’re looking for someone to create a warm, friendly and relaxing bar environment for our guests to enjoy after a day of activities. You will work to create memorable relationships with our guests by remembering their names and other key details each week while also managing a well-stocked and clean bar and assisting in other areas of the hotel as and when required. You will be numerate and have a sound knowledge of bar working practices.
You must be well presented, reliable, thorough, hardworking and flexible, with high standards. You will be confident, cheerful and outgoing with plenty of common sense and a ‘get on with it’ attitude. This job is hard work and physically demanding.
This is a fast-paced job, so we expect our team to work fast and efficiently when on duty
