The Summer Isles Hotel is a small but very well-known hotel, restaurant and bar set in a landscape of sea, mountains and islands on the far North-West coast of Scotland. Guests visit the hotel to enjoy the landscape, the tranquility and – importantly – the food which is heavily influenced by the coastal surroundings. We are currently recruiting a Sous Chef & Chef to work in our hotel.

*Please note that we can only hire candidates that are able to work in the UK (post-Brexit), therefore you should already have a valid visa or EU settlement scheme status.*

As Sous Chef at the Summer Isles Hotel, you will play a pivotal role in the food side of our wonderful hotel. Your main priorities will include working with our head chef throughout all the stages of food production from prep through to the final dish. You will have a keen eye for detail, experience working with a range of ingredients and techniques and a natural flair and creativity for preparing delicious fresh dishes with a strong emphasis on local seafood. As Sous Chef you will work very closely with our head chef and you shall be a key member of the team here at the hotel. This is an exciting opportunity to harness and develop your current skills and food knowledge whilst working within a vibrant and focused kitchen environment. You are passionate about food and have a strong desire to develop your career and enhance your knowledge and skills.

The Chef has a disciplined work ethic together with excellent knowledge of food preparation, ingredients (especially fish and seafood) and cooking techniques, both classical and modern. You are passionate about your craft and eager to learn. As a person, you are responsible, neat and clean, respectful and you are happy to be part of a team that values integrity.

Requirements

  • UK Passport Holder, or valid UK Visa Holder or EU Settlement Scheme status
  • Available from ASAP until at least October 31st, 2022.
  • Professional education and/or experience are vital.

What will you get in return?

  • Chef: £11.50 per hour (50-60 hours per week likely) – £2,491 – £2,990 per month – equivalent to an annual salary of £29.9k to £35.9k.
  • Sous Chef: £2750 – £3250 per month (50-60 hours per week likely) depending on experience which is equivalent to an annual salary of £33k -£39k.
  • Share of tips
  • Team meal daily at 5 pm
