About us

Whitebeam Chalets is a family ski company. Run by the husband and wife team, Sarah and Matt, the company’s independent ski chalet and the apartment is based in Peisey-Vallandry near Les Arcs. They are sure to understand your needs, when on a family ski holiday, because they are a family unit themselves. Sarah and Matt have two young children, a boy and a girl, and two dogs. All of them love being in Peisey-Vallandry for the snow and skiing! The children even snowboard.

We love to share the mountains, snow and wonderful food with our guests.

After 10 years of hard work and dedication, Sarah and Matt run catered chalets and apartments in the Peisey-Vallandry area, under the Whitebeam brand.

Chalet Cook

The main role of the chalet cook is to provide high-quality, tasty, hot food that clients generally wouldn’t have at their home. Also, the highest standards of food hygiene are followed and carried out during the season. You will be required to answer guests’ questions relating to the resort and the chalet and to resolve any small problems that guests may have alongside the host.

Your aim is to ensure that guests enjoy the best possible skiing holiday. You will need to familiarise yourself with Whitebeam Chalets website to ensure that all statements made are adhered to. You will be required to work in the chalet all day on changeover day (either Saturday or Sunday) and you may need to be up earlier than normal to see off departing guests and be available to welcome late arriving guests. We will provide a uniform which you will be required to wear on change over days and in the mornings and evenings whilst in the chalet with guests. The food and experience delivered must be of the highest standard due to our high level of returning guests we have come back.

Duties

  • Prepare a cooked breakfast, afternoon tea (sweet and savory options) and a three-course evening meal with wine and beer. At all times, meals must be prepared and served to Whitebeam Chalets standards and to dietary requirements.
  • Prepare and serve a two-course children’s evening meal if there are children in the chalet.
  • Design and prep of canapes for every night( Only in Chalet Cairn and on peak weeks)
  • Ensure a bowl of fresh fruit is always available for guests.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained in the best possible condition.
  • On changeover day, change all linen and towels and thoroughly clean the chalet.
  • Support the host on all cleaning duties pre and postseason
  • Drive clients to local lift ( 2 mins from the chalet)

Administration

  • Prepare shopping lists and make sure that budgets are adhered to.
  • Ensure that bread is ordered on a weekly basis, amending order to meet the changing guest requirement.
  • Ensure sufficient wine and wood (if applicable) are available at all times. Request delivery from the team coordinator if levels fall.

Chalet Host

The chalet host’s primary responsibility is to create a warm and welcoming environment in their assigned chalets for all guests, including children. You will receive full details on each group, the week before so you can familiarise and prepare for each week.

You will be required to answer guests’ questions relating to the resort and the chalet and to resolve any small problems that guests may have. Your aim is to ensure that guests enjoy the best possible skiing holiday. You will need to familiarise yourself with Whitebeam Chalets website to ensure that all statements made are adhered to. You will be required to work in the chalet all day on changeover day (either Saturday or Sunday) and you may need to be up earlier than normal to see off departing guests and be available to welcome late arriving guests. We will provide a uniform which you will be required to wear on change over days and in the mornings and evenings whilst in the chalet with guests.

On the arrival evening, deliver a short but informative welcome speech to guests advising chalet issues (keys, codes, meal times, a day off procedure, etc) fire safety information and pointing out that all information (including emergency contact numbers for doctors, dentists and staff) is in the Guests information book that is kept in each chalet. Check that arrangements have been made by other team members for lift passes, hire equipment, ski school and childcare.

Duties

Preseason:

  • Chalet deep clean before guests arrive, ready for the season, all beds made and ready.

During season:

  • Ensure that an excellent standard of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times in the chalet, taking extra care in the bathrooms (daily) and kitchen (daily).
  • On changeover day, change all linen and towels and thoroughly clean the chalet.
  • Clean cooker and fridge (weekly, on shop day for whoever is staying in the chalet).
  • Vacuum and mop all floors (steam mops provided)
  • Plump up sofa cushions and tidy lounge and dining area (daily)
  • Clean all bathrooms (daily)
  • Washing of towels during the week in prep for change over.
  • Clean interior and exterior of windows when required.
  • Ensure that all household equipment is maintained in the best possible condition.
  • Report breakages to managers who will arrange repair or replacements.
  • Remove rubbish from the chalet and dispose in bins at the end of every shift.
  • Settable, serve food, clear away and put dishes in the dishwasher.

Postseason:

  • Chalet deep clean and pack everything away for the following season:
  1. Steam clean all beds
  2. Wash all cushion covers
  3. Steam all curtains
  4. Clean out kitchen, fridge, freezer
  5. Clean all windows
  6. Clean all air vents
  7. Deep clean all rooms

Administration:

  • Collate guest information in prep for their arrival (the week before they are due to arrive)
  • Ensure guests settle bills for any extras incurred during the holiday will
  • be advised if this is required

Candidate and Package

We are looking for people that love working as part of a team, dealing with customers, and are also able to enjoy their company but also understand when to take a step back and let them enjoy their stay with us.

Requirements: EU passport or EU residency status, or working Visa for Europe, Hygiene certificate, driver’s license preferred ( European or International), customer service experience, passion for food, happy to work as part of a team.

Package:

  • 35-hour French contract take-home pay around 1100€)
  • Food at mealtimes when working in the chalet
  • 2 days off during 7 day week ( one full day, one morning and one evening)
  • Full Resort Ski pass for the season
  • Accommodation – shared away from the chalet
  • Ski equipment for the season ( skis or snowboard and boots)
  • Uniform ( t-shirts, aprons)

The start date will be the 15th of December 2021 end of the contract will be 30th April 2020 but confirmed and 2-week notice given on final end date based on final bookings.
