Volunteer Maldives Look For Volunteers To Take Part In Teaching And Community Development Projects In The Maldives

We are pleased to be able to offer a Real Maldives experience to our volunteers. If you are looking for a
life-changing experience, an opportunity to make a real and substantial difference to people's lives, live among a small island community and integrate yourself into a unique culture, as well as enjoying the beauty
and magic of an amazing country, then the Maldives is the place to be !

Being the first volunteer company in the Maldives, we have had tremendous support from government, private, and individual organisations alike. We have built up trust and credibility from all sectors of the community, and we are all united in what we want to achieve.

Volunteers can choose to be involved in one of four projects or a combination:

Qualified teachers can be expected to impart their knowledge and experience in some of the larger schools, teaching up to A Level standard, (we would also welcome teachers of subjects other than the English Language).

Non-qualified teachers, although not a necessity, a TEFL certificate will give you confidence in the classroom and we would encourage volunteers to take a basic course, particularly for short term assignments. However, more important is a desire to interact with the children through classroom games and fun activities - just spoken English and enthusiasm will be welcomed in a position as Teaching Assistants, and is a great experience for our volunteers to join a warm and friendly community.  Working with children of all ages including preschool.

Sports/Youth workers - integrate with the youth community on the island through a mutual love of sports.  Teach them new sports or help them improve their existing skills.  Arrange practice sessions, sports camps,
and tournaments and bring the community together.  Teach youths a new skill, this can be anything from helping them improve their English, teaching them computers, carpentry skills and even teaching the young
girls how to make jewellery, or handcrafts that will not only be fun for them to learn but they could be a source of income for them.

Community development projects - Volunteers will help build, paint, renovate and remodel existing buildings, or build parks/play areas.  Help develop a small agricultural farm and encourage the locals to grow fresh
produce to supply to locals as well as resorts and generate some income. Help teach the locals the importance of waste management and how to become more environmentally friendly so they can preserve this very fragile
nation and home.

Depending on the location of your placement you may have the opportunity to experience life in the Maldives as a tourist by visiting one of the many Resorts on your off days.
