North Island Recruit Staff To Fill A Variety Of Positions For
The Ski Season
Mt Ruapehu is the highest peak of the North Island. The ski areas
of Whakapapa and Turoa are owned and operated by Ruapehu Alpine
Lifts
Ltd (RAL) and are situated within a World Heritage National Park.
Mt Ruapehu is the largest snowsport area in the Southern Hemisphere
and covers over 1,150 hectares of skiable terrain.
The operating season typically runs from June until late October,
with some seasons extending into November. A summer sightseeing
and guiding
operation runs between December and Easter.
Catering to 400,000 skier and snowboarder visits each year, RAL employs
40 permanent staff and up to 700 seasonal staff.
We operate 4 quad chairlifts, 2 triple chairlifts, 4 double chairlifts,
7 t-bars, 8 platter lifts, 6 rope tows, 10 cafeteria outlets and
3 retail outlets.
Who are we looking for?
As a large tourism operator, there are approximately 100 different job descriptions within the organisation ranging from permanent full time to seasonal positions. Of all the varied skills and personalities these jobs encompass, the common attributes of all our employees are the following:

Overseas Applicants
All overseas applicants must have a valid work visa. In most cases this is a working holiday visa. We are generally able to obtain work visas for applicants for the positions of Ski & Snowboard Instructors and Ski & Snowboard Technicians. We may also be able to assist applicants in obtaining work visas for some other specialised positions such as Doctors, Nurses, Groomer Operators, Snowmakers and Tradespeople. Note that Australian citizens are legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
